“Well knowing what you can do is good and all, but we’ll get to that once we starting training in full. Need to know what to build up on and all that.” Sam starts, looking up as he thinks. “I also need to know how you’ll affect team dynamics since everyone one my team does something different. But I’m not too worried about that. First, let’s go get you introduced to the team!” Diving back into the maze that is Debunker HQ, Sam guides you to the 7th floor. It looks a bit like a mess hall, all sorts of people flitting in and out, eating peacefully and/or laughing boisterously. Seems this area will be very lively at any rate. You and Sam have just entered the room when suddenly your companion is tackled from behind. Only his sturdy frame allows him to stay standing. He immediately seems to know who it is because he sighs the sigh of familiar suffering.
“Sammy! You’re back!” The girl cries with the same energy she tackled Sam with. Everyone else seems to ignore her, used to her particular brand of hype. Over at a nearby table, a rather matronly woman breathes a similar sigh as Sam and stands up to meet him.
“It has been some time, Sam. Indeed, it has been a rather long time to be without some form of communication.” Despite the kindly nature of her words, her stern expression says he’d better have a reasonable explanation quickly or suffer the consequences.
“It’s only been a month.” He says rather confused. By the way the other woman’s face starts holding a blatantly fake smile and the small girl who was attached to him starts backing away, that was obviously a wrong answer. “Wait, wait, wait! I was going through my assignment no problem and then I ran into a small snag. Nothing serious, but it worried me so I investigated it. Accidentally tipped off some Undergrounds before I was ready for them and had to take them on. Only then my sister got into some trouble so I had to drop that and find her. And then the Undergrounds I was beating followed me and it turned into this huge mess! I’m fine obviously and I even got a new recruit out of it!” Sam spits his words out rather quickly in hopes of avoiding her wrath and it seems to work as the creepy fake smile drops and is replaced with worry and curiosity.
“May I assume the strapping young man here is your new recruit? If so, then it is a pleasure to meet you. I am Natasha Lowe.” She sticks her hand out for a shake as she introduces herself. The other girl is a lot less reserved, plowing into you with the same vigor she had with Sam.
“Hi, new guy! I’m Suzy Sanders, but you can call me Double S for short.” In what world Double S is shorter than Suzy you don’t know, but it seems to make sense to the young looking girl currently attached to your back.
“Sue here specializes in fast electric Pokémon. Big surprise considering her energy, huh? Natasha is more support and usually keeps Pokémon that boosts stats or heals others up, though it can get kinda scary if she’s made to attack.” Sam says, though the last part is quiet in hopes that Natasha doesn’t hear. If she does, she doesn’t react outwardly towards it. “My team’s rather small right now. We… ran into some trouble a while ago which reduced our numbers. I don’t see her around, but I’ll introduce you to our Benefactor at some point. She’s new around here as well, but she seems pretty determined to root out the Underground.”

Nurse Joy shakes her head and waves her arms at you. “Oh no, there’s nothing going on now. Excuse me for being frank, but it’s been one hell of a day. The daughter of the PokéMart has run away you see. I can’t really blame her though. Being chased by Team Magma idiots would do funny things to a person.” She seems rather ashamed that she let her thoughts show on her face around a customer, so she seems to be making up for it by giving you information.

Nina seems to think about it for a little while before nodding her head in decision. “I think Chinny might enjoy the aim exercise. I might even try to make a game out of it and see how long she can keep the ball in the air with her attacks! She says, starting to get into the idea. “C’mon out, Chinny!” She calls as she releases her starting Pokémon and grabs a rubber ball off you. “Alright, Chinny, I’m gonna throw this into the air. I want you to use Water Gun to keep it in the air as long as you can. Ready?” At her Chinchou’s nod, she tosses it into the air. She seems to be enjoying herself now that she has something safe and constructive to do. Her Chinchou seems to be enjoying the game too if the amused chirps of her name between Water Guns is any indication.

Poliwag uses Splash again… but much like the first time it does absolutely nothing. Well, nothing except cause the Team Aqua grunt in front of you to look at you with a look of extreme confusion and exasperation. A look Nurse Joy shared somewhat, though since she knows you the confusion isn’t nearly as strong. Electrike seems more than willing to take advantage of the moment of levity, launching a Thunder Wave at the distracted enemy and locking up his muscles, causing him to hit the floor.
On Koben’s end, his kick does indeed send the Carvanha flying at its Trainer who dives to avoid the projectile Pokémon. “What the fuck is wrong with you!? She shouts as she hits the floor. As your foot touches back to the earth, you notice your leg scratched something fierce due to Carvanha’s Rough Skin. Adrenaline and purpose allow you to ignore it for now, but you’ll need to get it treated soon. Wary of someone proven to cut people up and attack Pokémon, the Team Aqua trainers stay as far away from you as possible, though one of them isn’t nearly quick enough. Cutting him down in whatever way you see fit (giving you free range on this one), the others begin to gather their wits and go for their Pokémon when a voice sighs.
The voice is familiar to Naomi. She just heard it earlier today after all. “10 minutes. I walk away from you for 10 minutes tops, Naomi, and THIS is what I find you in? I didn’t even walk far enough for the screams to be inaudible!” Katie says, holding her head in her hands. Recomposing herself, she glares at the Team Aqua grunts. “Hey, do you mind just beating it? I don’t have the patience to deal with you all today.” Her hand starts making its way to a PokéBall. Whatever she ends up doing, she’s currently one hell of a distract for Koben, giving him more than enough opportunity to continue his assault.
Off in the distance, everyone hears a ferry pulling in.
On Route 121:RaphaelSpoiler (click to show/hide):
At your obvious show of hostility, Absol removes its last traces of hesitation and prepares itself for battle, which in turn causes Kal to sigh and release a Vulpix to help you out in the coming battle. Her Pokémon doesn’t look overtly powerful like Tyr or Seraphim does after all they’ve went through, but it’s better than nothing. Before everything gets started, you spray Tyr down with a Potion to help it recover from its battle and send him on his way. Seeing how shaky Seraphim is from going two battles without healing, Kal tosses Remmi a Potion to spray on the Ralts before the Absol finally makes its move. As it does, you and your allies’ Pokémon all feel an ominous Pressure on them! It’ll likely take more out of your Pokémon to attack then they’re used to! When the Absol buckles a bit, you see a smile come across Remmi’s face. Seraphim’s Ability must be Trace, throwing Absol’s Pressure right back at it. Shaking off the effect, Absol presses on.
Surprisingly, it shoots a mouthful of Ember at Tyr! Despite it not being type effective, it still hits rather hard! From your PokéGear’s headset, you hear confirmation that the Absol just used Me First, a move that randomly picks a move from its enemies and uses it with increased power! Thankfully, Tyr doesn’t seem to be burnt, though the attack seems to have taken a bit out of him.
A bit annoyed her own at her own attack being used, Kal orders her Vulpix, Hope she’s apparently named, to use its own Ember on Absol. The Disaster Pokémon winches a bit, but otherwise doesn’t seem too terribly affected by the move. Remmi must have communicated with Seraphim mentally, because the next thing you know the Ralts’ eyes are dyed a deep blue, a color that the Absol soon reflects as well. You’re not sure until your headset tells you so, but it seems Seraphim has used Disable! You’re not sure which move has been Disabled, but any move it doesn’t have access to is a good thing! Bringing up the rear, Tyr concentrates, using Focus Energy to make it likely that he hits more vital areas.

The Houndour girl is moving almost as soon as you are. Unprepared for an attack on two fronts, the Officer goes down without a problem, easily held down by the brute strength of the PokéMorph. Wait, Officer? It turns out the Houndour girl’s handler is an Officer Jenny, though if she’s in the employ of Team Magma she’s obviously been corrupted. “Beast, what is the meaning of this!?” She demands, though the authoritative tone is slightly ruined by the fear in her voice. While your partner holds her handler down, you easily remove the remote from the Officer’s belt and find the off switch. With one final zap that causes the other woman to flinch, the collar falls off and an evil grin spreads across her face.
“Just revenge, bitch.” She growls as the Officer’s face rapidly pales. “Didn’t I warn you you’d be sorry the second I got out of this collar? Huh?” Well, she’ll likely listen to you if you tell her to back off a bit, but the question is do you want her to?
Introducing!In Rustboro:RogerSpoiler (click to show/hide):
Despite any misgivings you might have about leaving your hometown, you’re well on your way to beginning your journey! Probably not a moment too soon and maybe even a little late given the events of the day. A massive Pokémon battle right in the middle of the place! Against Team Magma and other delinquents even! It boggles the mind that such a thing could happen in such a place, but there it is. You see a couple of the fighters from that battle at the fountain training their Pokémon, but besides that the excitement’s died down. You don’t really have anyone to say goodbye to seeing as your parents are hard at work again, so you’re free to make your own way at any time. As if to make up for their absence though, your folks have left you a bag with a few items to help you on your journey.

It’s a long ride from Sinnoh to Hoenn, but as the reborn S.S. Libra docks into port you know your trip is over and your journey is about to begin. Only, you immediately hear that things aren’t likely to go smoothly. Screams of agony make their way to your ears and you think the crackle of electricity carries to you as well. Whatever’s going down in town, it isn’t peaceful. Unfortunately, you might have to pass by it on your way to do other things.
On the S.S. Tidal:The Ferry has changed a bit, becoming a mix of cruise ship and ferry. It’s much more massive than it used to be, with 4 decks worth of cabins inside to better accommodate large parties. The top deck is pretty open aired with a pool on deck on the opposite side of the ramp you both used to board the ship and to the left. There’s also shuffleboard near the front, but who plays shuffleboard? To your left are stairs leading up and down.
Going up, you find everything needed to plot their course and steer (I forget the actual term for it right now). That’s where the majority of the crew is right now, sans the captain, though they look too busy to chat at the moment. Behind that are the kitchens. Odd placement, huh?
Going down, to your right, there’s the Captain’s Quarters, right there in case of emergency so they can be the first to respond. It looks rather large too, taking up a quarter of this level. The rest of this is Trainer cabins, compact compared to the Captain’s Cabin, but still the size of a small apartment room. All in all, there are 16 rooms on this level, including the Captain’s Room, excluding the men and women’s restrooms.
Below that, things look much like the deck above, but with more rooms since there’s no Captain’s Abode. There are about 20 rooms on this deck, again excluding the restrooms. A lot of these are Crew Quarter’s though, so only about 4 rooms are available. Still seems like a horribly low number of rooms for an entire crew. Maybe they share or something? On the bottom deck is the engine room, off limits to the normal folk. Or at least they claim as much.

Your journey has pretty much already started since you caught the S.S .Tidal earlier today. The ship seemed deader than usual… though since you don’t ride it all that often you can’t be too sure about that. Most of the commotion on the ship seems to be coming from the floor above you since you’re in Room 302, but you haven’t gone to investigate it yet. Going from crew activity, you should be reaching Petalburg soon so you may not have to at all. Still, it might be something to pass the time if you’re so inclined.
