Smalls continued to stalk through the bush, following the tracks left by the lumbering gate of the mutons. Her eyes scanned beneath the slouch hat, pausing on each tree and rock, checking to see if it was lurking alien or just a shadow.

Her radio ear piece crackled to life and she scooched down against a large pine to listen.
