The Tribe of Venu: An ominous message.

”Venu, Venu! Can I go play with the other kids?”

With a gentle smile on his face, Venu nodded mildly. Without delay, Hylli rushed outside.

”Yay!”

She shouted, her face filled with delight. Her bright aura made Venu smile. At the time, the tribe was doing well. With the strong and endurant Forg around, everyone have been able to get proper wooden housing, even though his sense of moral was questionable. Still wearing his faint smile, Venu slowly walked outside, his gaze meeting the spring sun's calm light that was showering down over the tribe.

”If just these peaceful times would last forever.”

”Oh, you're out here Ramm- I mean...”

Venu's eyes dart over to his side, seeing Manuri standing right next to him.

”How long have you been there?”

Manuri gives off one of her well-known friendly smiles and spice it with a small feminine giggle.

”I just arrived.”

Venu laughed heartily when he heard her answer.

”When do you think these peaceful days will end?”

Manuri seemed flustered at the question.

”Ah! Eh... I don't know...”

Venu turned his head to look at the children whom were playing in front of him, letting out a deep sigh.

”Well, I guess that's true.”

He mumbled lowly for himself.

”One day, you are sitting in comfort and luxury, the next, your throat is getting ripped open by a wolf. I've seen it all too many times before. So, while this peace persists, I will simply smile. Smile to the world as the world smiles to me...”

Manuri stared at Venu in confusion.

”Err... Yes... I guess that makes sense but... Why are you so happy all of a sudden?”

Venu let out a deep sigh and glared into the ground.

”You know this won't last forever. So I want to enjoy it while it does. Tomorrow, we might be starving to death, tonight we might accidentially burn down one of our houses, and in a minute, an enemy tribe might arrive at our borders.”

Manuri gave a small confused nod.

”I think the best way to enjoy happy moments is to forget that they will end.”

Venu gazed up at Manuri with a surprised look on his face.

”I wish I could do that.”

”If you cannot do it yourself, then ask for a childs help.”

Venu laughed at her words.

”Since when did you get so wise?

Manuri gave off a kind smile.

”Who knows?”

After the two had finished talking, Venu would spend the rest of the day playing around with the kids. Although Manuri originally had wanted to ask him something, she decided to leave him be; She didn't want to ruin Venu's happiness.

However, the very next day, his peace would be destroyed by a single ominous message.

Just like the day before, the sun was shining and the plants were growing in harmony around the village. Today, the tribe farmers had begun seeding their farms with wheat. Along with those farmers were Forg, helping the farmers with their work.

”Forg, can you come over here and help me carry this bag of seeds?”

Forg shot out his chest with a happy and proud motion.

”Of course! You can rely on me.”

The farmer smiled awkwardly at Forg's extreme enthusiasm. Forg liked to work. A lot. If you were not aware of it, you had never really seen Forg.

”How do you remain so energetic, Forg?”

Forg proudly grins while crossing his arms.

”Work! I work!”

The farmer laughed awkwardly at his response.

”Yes, I guess you do.”

Forg laughed at the farmers response, only to suddenly cease motion, his eyes gazing into the blue fresh air.

”Is something the matter, Forg?”

He turned around to face the outskirts of the tribe, a wild glare filling his eyes.

”Someone's coming!”

He turned towards the tribe and shouted from the top of his lungs.

”Someone's coming! Hurry, grab your weapons!”

The tribesmen dropped everything they had in their arms and quickly grabbed the nearest weapon. With a confident nod, Forg rushed towards the weapon nearest to him; A wooden stick used for plowing fields. With no time to waste, he rushed towards the intruders and screamed from the top of his lungs.

”For Venu!”

But out of nowhere, the tribe wiseperson appeared and stopped his movement with his elemental magic, lifting him up from the ground by using the air element.

”Rerlirli! Are you with them? Was this your plan all along?!”

The wiseperson gave the paranoid and anxious Forg a calm and determined look.

”They're not our enemies.”

Although Forg didn't believe Rerlirli's word, he had little choice in the matter, as he was hanging in the middle of the air. When the foreigners came closer, most were amazed at what they saw. By using a tame creature, the foreigners were able to carry large loads of goods. This was something the tribe had never seen before.

”We come to bring no harm.”

The man leading the caravan yelled.

”We come to bring you supplies.”

Rerlirli slowly lowered Forg down to the ground and then let go of him. He gave the man a small nod, and waved for the caravan to come closer. Forg glared angrily at Rerlirli and pointed at him with all his muscles tensed up as to seem threatening.

”If you die, it's your own fault!”

And with that said, Forg left for the agricultural fields again, his every step echoing in the distant forests.

Soon after, the caravan reached the outskirts of the village. Behind Rerlirli stood a large range of tribesmen and women with weapons in their hands; Only Rerlirli himself was unarmed.
In total, the caravan was accompanied by three men. The one in the front went up Rerlirli with a stern and seemingly immovable facial expression.

”Hello fellow humans. We are from the city-state of Rhein, and we've come to seek your aid.”

The people behind Rerlirli froze in confusion. The man ignored the confusion and looked only at Rerlirli.

”What is your tribe's name?”

”Venu. We're the Tribe of Venu.”

”Very well then...”

He took a deep breath before beginning to utter a message that would forever change the life in the tribe...

“Tribe of Venu, racial brothers, dark times are approaching.

We have recently been informed by our scouts and our seers that an ancient force, a force that once before in ancient human history caused destruction and poverty, is to return by the rise of the next full moon.

In order to fend off the wave of darkness, we'll need all the help we can get. We do not expect you to come and serve in our wars, we simply expect you to survive for a while. By surviving, you will stall some of darkness that threatens us all – by dying quick deaths, you will enhance the darkness, which will then come as a strengthened storm to consume our borders. Call it selfish, but our tools is all that is going to stand between you and death.

We know little of the enemies nature, but we do know that sexual interactions with any darklings is strictly prohibited. If you want to know why, you must figure it out by yourself. Sorry for any inconvenience this may bring.

Good luck and greetings from Rhein. End of message.”

Rerlirli lowered his head without uttering a word.

”Also, I am to be stationed in this tribe in order to help you out in any way possible. My two men will, however, return to Rhein.”

Rerlirli gave a short depressed nod.

”You are welcome to stay, young man.”

The tribesmen began talking, debating whether this was a good idea or not. Some were not too satisfied with letting him stay, others believed it to be in the tribe's best interest if what he said was true. Either way, the caravan's load was emptied and put into the tribe's storages. The foreigners had brought fine axes and swords sharper than anyone in the village had ever seen before and they were all of a strange and brownish hue that no one had seen before. Once the caravan was empty, two of the foreigners began to ride back to Rhein while the messenger stayed. It was by then that Venu called for a tribe meeting by the central fireplace.

After all tribesmembers, including you, had met up by the center, Venu stepped up on a big stone near the fireplace with a saddened look on his face. For a while, he would simply glance over over his fellow tribemembers, not uttering a word. After a while, Venu finally composed himself and began his speech.

”Tribesmen! We have received a dark message. A cursed message. A message spelling out the doom of our tribe.

But tribesmen! Does this mean we should give up on our lands? Does this mean that we should give up on our friends and families?

The answer is 'no'! We will give the darkness what it deserves, even if we're inevitably doomed to die. For we are the Venu; A tribe of honor and pride!

Today, we must once again find the spirit that have ensured our survival to this day! With determination and dedication, we will be victorious even in death.

Hence, I will waste no more time and get right to the thick of it.

Craftsmen! I order you to build walls around the city so that we have to cover less ground once the enemies arrive.

Scouts and diplomats! I order you to contact the Mahia and Ronor tribes. It's important that they are prepared as well. As long as they stick around, they will be able to fight the darkness with us.

Warriors! Train day and night, only to rest once before the dawn of darkness.

The full moon will rise in a week. We have no time to waste. Are you with me? Will you raise your spears at my command?”

As the speech stops, the tribe roars and cheers. Now, it's the time for you to take part of the tribe. What will your actions be? How will you defend the tribe? Will you be the genius that invents new ideas and technologies, or the warrior that repels enemy invaders? Will you be the hardworking craftsman that builds houses and weapons, or will you be the hunter that gathers food for the tribe?

The survival of the tribe is in your hands.

As the cheers die down after Venu's speech, Alaric steps forward out of the crowd. "The Ronor are more likely to listen to a warrior. I will go to them." Having said his piece, he turns and walks away to prepare for the journey.

Going to the tribe's stores, he starts by taking a piece of fruit from the food supplies, as well as some dried meat. The fruit he starts eating while he works, while the meat goes into a small pouch by his waist. It will take the better part of a day to reach the other tribe and return, and he won't have time to forage on the way. A stone dagger follows the meat into the pouch, then he turns to look at the rest of the weapons. He passes over most of them fairly quickly - the swords are for war, not fighting off animals, and he won't have time for a real hunt so there's little point in a bow. He does take a moment to examine the new bronze spears, but takes one of the stone-headed ones instead - at least for now. It's a weapon he knows, and it'll serve well enough against any predators he might meet - not to mention being less valuable if it gets lost or broken.

Satisfied, he finds the chief again to discuss exactly what message he is to deliver to the Ronor.

"Venu, we should offer more than just a warning - if the darklings are as dangerous as this man claims, we'll need to work together with the other tribes. At least invite their leader or wiseperson to talk to us, so we can share any tales that might help us work out what we're facing." He pauses for a moment, then continues: "We should consider asking them to join us here. I don't know whether the Mahia would do it, but the Ronor have very little to leave behind at their village anyway. You know how they fight - imagine what allies they could make if our craftsmen armed them properly!"

@Alaric:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

"The Ronor are more likely to listen to a warrior. I will go to them."

The chief nods solemnly.

”Good. Now, who wants to go to Mahia?”

Leaving the meeting behind, you go and grab the following items from the storage:
A stone dagger.
One unit of food.
A stone spear.

After preparing for the tribe, you go to see the chief whom is still standing by the central fireplace. As you arrive, you find that the chief is currently busy dealing with at least two other tribemembers.

”Yes, you should definitely try to see if you could prepare some bandages. They will be very useful during the coming invasion.”

He tells Manuri, who looks like she has gone into a state of panic for some reason.

”O-okay... I'll do that.”

Manuri answers as she leaves. After answering one more question, Venu turns to you, giving you a stern look, emanating an aura of a strict leader.

”Speak, young man.”

You look up at him and speak your mind.

"Venu, we should offer more than just a warning - if the darklings are as dangerous as this man claims, we'll need to work together with the other tribes. At least invite their leader or wiseperson to talk to us, so we can share any tales that might help us work out what we're facing."

As you pause, he silently nods his head.

”Yes, you definitely need to talk to their leader or wiseperson, but taking the leader out of the tribe will endanger the tribe more than anything. Just talk to him while in Ronor on my behalf. That will be enough.”

Afterwards, you continue talking.

"We should consider asking them to join us here. I don't know whether the Mahia would do it, but the Ronor have very little to leave behind at their village anyway. You know how they fight - imagine what allies they could make if our craftsmen armed them properly!"

He frowns a little and shakes his head.

”I won't allow it. As you said, we have no idea if these dark things exist in the first place. Asking them to move in based on such a loose assumption would tarnish our reputation, that and it would require a lot of our people to learn how to live together with the Ronor tribe. Besides, both our tribes are based on honor and pride; If you even as much as dare to ask them, they will feel like we think little of them. This is not the case...”

He pauses for a moment before looking away, caught in thought.

”However, it would seem fair to ask them to send one person over to our tribe to build the trust between the two tribes in these dark times. So, if you really want someone from their tribe to move in, I will allow it. But only one Inu. It will be up to you to talk anyone into moving over to our tribe, however.”

After saying this, he turns his attention to someone else that had arrived as you had been speaking to him.

The young Curious Eyes upon hearing the message had gone back inside to immediately begin his own preparations. He would immediately head home and looks over the kind of ingredients he had to work with in his own home to take a quick stock before visiting the Wiseman first at his own hut. The Wiseman he visited because he was his apprentice and needed to consult with him on the proper course of action first. He gave a bow that a student gives his mentor and kept his head low for the moment "Rerlirli, my teacher and guide, in light of the news I feel that I should put myself to more active work beyond my studies of all things permits. I would ask of you to confer some of your wisdom upon me in the forms of any herbs and plants that would prove useful for the tribe to gather during this time. I have my own personal idea on perhaps how we can help defend the tribe." Curious would exhale slowly. "I thought to perhaps call upon the earthen spirits surrounding the area to help us in erecting some defenses in the form of thick thorny brambles to help use defend the wall the tribe will undoubtably erect."

Alaric frowns slightly in turn at the chief's second answer, but says nothing. Instead, he just bows his head slightly and turns to leave the village.

He can't deny the truth of anything Venu just said, but he still fears that it is the wrong decision. They have no proof that the threat is real, true... but instinct tells him that it is. No-one would travel as far as the strangers had, or give away such weapons while asking nothing in return, unless some great need drove them. The fact that they could do it suggested that they had knowledge and resources the Venu couldn't match - yet they still feared that the coming darkness would be too much for them. And he'd seen the way Rerlirli had reacted to the message, as well. The wiseman wouldn't have been affected that strongly by an unconfirmed - and rather vague - warning... unless he had good reason to believe that it was accurate.

No, the storm was coming, and they would all need all the help they could get to weather it. Perhaps the chief was right and honor wouldn't allow either tribe to make that decision. His hand tightens on the shaft of his spear as he thinks of how he would have reacted if the men from Rhein had made the same request. It would have been an insult, certainly, but would he have said yes anyway? He doesn't know, but something - the same instinct that said the threat was real - tells him that even if he hadn't, 'yes' would have still been the right answer. Dying for honor was one thing, but only a fool let pride make him throw away his chance at victory.

By this point, his thoughts have carried him clear of the village and he begins to stretch out his steps, falling into the long, easy run of the hunter. The familiar pace clears some of the gloom from his thoughts, and he sets his gaze on the horizon in the direction of the Ronor village. He'll deal with the future when it arrives; for now, he has a task to do.

@Curious Eyes:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Rerlirli was a busy man after he meeting had ended. A lot had come to seek out his advice on different matters, and as you enter his hut, someone else was already there.

”So, you have to stop working on the leather this week. The skin able to just lie around without getting ruined. You see, the leather will not be able to be prepared in time for the invasion in a week. Instead, you should train your combat abilities. I have seen your skills. You have great potential.”

The woman nods with a smile on her face and turns around to leave. She gives you a quick glance as she passes by you on her way out of the hut, leaving you with Rerlirli.

”Speak, my young student.”

"Rerlirli, my teacher and guide, in light of the news I feel that I should put myself to more active work beyond my studies of all things permits. I would ask of you to confer some of your wisdom upon me in the forms of any herbs and plants that would prove useful for the tribe to gather during this time. I have my own personal idea on perhaps how we can help defend the tribe."

He nods slowly at your request, patiently listening.

"I thought to perhaps call upon the earthen spirits surrounding the area to help us in erecting some defenses in the form of thick thorny brambles to help use defend the wall the tribe will undoubtedly erect."

He gives off another nod before giving you a calm smile.

”For herbs, Aloe Vera might be able to do the job. It will stop bleedings and partially treat wounds, but that is about it. It would be easy for you to make such a concoction.”

He nods quietly as he speaks.

”For us to erect brambles or living defenses, we need to combine the forces of several elements. This is no easy task, for the personalities of the different elements will surely contradict one another. However, if you're still interested in trying this, I can still tell you what elements it requires."

He paused, for a moment without saying anything. He then nodded, as to affirm a thought from his own mind.

"Listen carefully, young student. Firstly, you need the aid of the ground. Secondly, you need the flow of the water. Then, you need the aid of life itself. An element that is so diverse that calling it an element would be to dishonor it. Then and only then will you be able to erect strong natural defenses through the use of elemental magic.”

He pauses for a moment, seemingly caught in thought again.

”You must do this on your own if you want to, or you will never learn. I will however be available if you need further guidance. Now, take your leave, my young student. You have a lot to do.”

He gives off a friendly smile and a calming aura. Just being close to him makes you feel safe.

@Alaric:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Running all the way, you only had to travel for an hour and a half instead of three, but in exchange you used more endurance than you otherwise would have used. -4 endurance.
During the trip you encounter nothing noticeable.

Before you arrive, you can hear the Inu's bark and yell at you, but you know that they do this because they are unaware of who you are as of yet. Trying to calm them down, you instinctively call back, telling them your name. Upon hearing your name, the barking kinda stops and you can safely journey closer to the tribe.

Upon arrival, you see the familiar Ronor architecture... Or the lack thereof. By the center of the tribe, you see the familiar fireplaces that is lit all day long so that they won't have to reignite the fireplaces. To meet you are five Inu's, cautiously yet happily wagging their tail. Only one of them is actually wearing some kind of clothing though.

”Welcome, human.”

A naked woman with a few animalistic traits steps out from the midst of the crowd.

”What is the purpose of your visit?”

She said in a monotone tone, giving you a sharp glare.

As the speech finally ended, and most of the tribe rushed out to prepare themselves, he looked back and frowned on his actions during the speech. All that time, while the tribe was courageously looking forward, thinking of what they could do to protect their families and their home, he was having trouble understand how it could come to this. Them, a small village which spends its days trying to survive, now the front lines of some kind of war? But what he was ashamed of was not due to his questioning, but how he saw the courage in the eyes of all of them, but for what ever reason, he was having trouble knowing what to feel, he spent most of the time simply looking over to Manuri --Which he was sitting next to-- simply to see her reaction, and try to understand what he should be feeling.

As soon as he noticed Manuri getting up, he himself got up, following her, rather worried of what this situation would turn to."Mistress, what do you think of all this? More importantly, how may I be of service to my kin?" Loken stared at her, he'd always wanted to be of more help to the tribe, but now that such a time as appeared, he began to act a bit nervously, something which was not common in the likes of him.

As you turn to look at Manuri, you can not quite see her face because she's looking in the opposite direction.

"Mistress, what do you think of all this? More importantly, how may I be of service to my kin?"

Manuri slowly turns her head around you, and it soon becomes apparent that she's in a state of panic. She quickly shakes her head, tears coming out of her eyes.

”I...”

She quickly compose herself so that she can speak to you.

”I am not worried about the tribe... I am worried about the animals and the humanoids that are not as intelligent as we are. They will die! Without our help, they will surely die! But I can't leave the tribe... Not unless...”

She pauses for a moment, caught in thought. Even though she had composed herself enough to speak, she was still shaking lightly, tears occasionally escaping her eyes. Then, she quickly gazed right and then left to see if anyone was nearby. By then, she leaned closer and whispered a message into your ear, too silent to be heard by anyone else.

Listening to Rerlirli on what he advised in terms of what he should request the gatherers to start finding as quickly as possible. Then on the matter of the elemental magic he wished to attempt he would have to garner the favor of at least two elements and one spirit god. His eyes would dart down for the moment as the tasks were daunting however he was not going to be dissuaded from trying as he gave a confident smile and then spoke "Thank you my mentor. I shall make you proud when I bring word of my success in rallying the elements to the side of Venu in this regard" He then bowed and took his leave. He walked with renew purpose walking towards his own hut so that he could have an inventory check of the amount of Aloe Vera he had in his own herbology shelves.

It seems there was absolutely nothing which you think the gatherers and farmers would have kept supplied but apparently not. So as he worked in looking over his notes upon the Aloe Vera and what he would need to keep a tribe supplied with that essential medicine he would start looking for any particular plants that would prove useful in making a physical barrier within one of the clay tablets that contained personal information he had recorded upon plants and their properties and more importantly which elemental presides over the plant in question. Arming himself with that knowledge before he leaves would be something immensely wise for him. However he would need some amount of protection as he goes out there so he would then leave to talk to a few of the hunters and warriors. To those he spoke with he would explain things.

"Fellow warriors and hunters. I have consulted with the Wiseman Rerlirli and note a distressing need for the times ahead for Aloe Vera. It is a medicinal plant to help treat wounds and stave off infections and pain. I would wish to accompany you on the next expedition for meat. This way I can find a suitable supply of these plants so that we can have a good supply for the future within the tribes walls." He would take a moment and then adds "Also on the off chance that this warning has much weight I wish to console with the elemental spirits and gods out in the wild and ask for their assistance in erecting a wall of thorns on the outer perimeter of this wall we intend to erect to help fortify our tribe further. Who would go with me?" He waits for that question to be answered. He might not expect much of them to join but hopefully some took the warning to heart even if on principle.

Alaric slows his pace as he nears the Ronor camp. He'll need to be able to speak effectively once he arrives - that, and charging into their camp at full speed waving a spear might give the wrong impression. Hearing barking ahead of him he calls out his name and tribe in response, which seems to reassure them.

As he arrives, he sees a small group of Inu waiting for him in the spartan camp. One woman steps forward and addresses him:

"Welcome, human. What is the purpose of your visit?"

Alaric pauses briefly before he answers, taking a moment to steady his breathing before speaking.

"I have a message for your chief. A warning of dark times ahead. Venu sent me to tell your tribe what we have learnt, and to speak to your leaders on his behalf."
Cogito, ergo... something.

@Curious Eyes:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Looking over the clay tablets, you found the following information:
Cat briar or other thorned crawling plants are capable of growing fast and can be painful to simply jump through, but offer no basic structure themselves.
A common hawthorn is a tree that has both thorns and structure, but trees usually grow really slow, and the thorns might not necessarily cover the ground, since the treetop will be about a meter or a half above the ground.
It's possible to mix several plants to make a stronger barrier, but doing so will greatly increase the difficulty. You see, you have to make a contract with each race of plants you plan to use, and that contract will only work in a certain area due to the conflicting nature of... Well... Nature.

The vines/crawling plants tend to be closely bonded with the Water element.
The trees tend to be closely bonded with the Earth element.
However, all plants are somewhat connected to both the water and the earth element.

Any further details must be found out first-hand, for the clay tablets hold no more data on this specific topic by what you know of.

After reading the tablets, you go out to try and coerce your fellow tribesmembers to join you on your trip out of the tribe. As expected, most people seem to be in a state of semi-panic, making them work way faster than you had seen them work for years.

The first attempt was with a strong male, but he bluntly turned it down saying that he was too busy helping the chief.
The second attempt was with a female farmer, but she didn't trust you enough to want to go with you.
The third attempt was with a male craftsman.

"Fellow warriors and hunters. I have consulted with the Wiseman Rerlirli and note a distressing need for the times ahead for Aloe Vera. It is a medicinal plant to help treat wounds and stave off infections and pain. I would wish to accompany you on the next expedition for meat. This way I can find a suitable supply of these plants so that we can have a good supply for the future within the tribes walls."

He nodded slowly, not entirely convinced by the words as of yet.

"Also on the off chance that this warning has much weight I wish to console with the elemental spirits and gods out in the wild and ask for their assistance in erecting a wall of thorns on the outer perimeter of this wall we intend to erect to help fortify our tribe further. Who would go with me?"

He gazed around the tribe with an uncertain look on his face, before giving a quiet nod.

”Fine, I'll go with you. But if you dare to waste my time, I'm going straight back here, you hear?”

The fourth attempt was with a female gatherer, but she rejected the idea flat-out, stating that she had to help out on the farms.
The fifth attempt was with the female leatherworker that had been talking to the chief earlier.

"Fellow warriors and hunters. I have consulted with the Wiseman Rerlirli and note a distressing need for the times ahead for Aloe Vera. It is a medicinal plant to help treat wounds and stave off infections and pain. I would wish to accompany you on the next expedition for meat. This way I can find a suitable supply of...”

”I'll accompany you.”

She interrupted.

”I have to go train anyway.”

Any further attempts all failed. In total, you garnered the help of two tribesmembers.

@LoneWolf:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

”A message?”

She uttered in a low almost aggressive tone.

”Wait here. If you move an inch, my fellow tribemembers will eat you.”

She turned around, leaving you with the view of her well-shaped behind and her stiff tail that pointed straight up towards the sky. The five Inu's gazed at each other in a confused manner before looking back at you.

”I swear, if she wasn't so strong, I would chew her head off.”

One of the men whispered loudly.

”You already tried, remember?”

The one wearing clothes replied before laughing.

”Are you picking a fight?”

The man replied. However, without saying a word, the two simply stopped talking and looked back at you, as if they had come to a conclusion on their little argument with nothing but their eyes.

Later, a clothed female slowly approached you and the Inu's. The mere size of her muscles gave off an aura of danger, and it was obvious that she was the tribe leader. When she got closer, the Inu's quickly got out of the way to let her through. She walked all the way up to you, standing only half a meter away from you, glaring into your eyes.

”Speak.”

Alaric listens to her threat, but doesn't bother to respond to it. The Inu do have a fierce reputation; but the Ronor, at least, normally don't attack without provocation of some sort. No doubt they'd take exception if he tried wandering around their village, but these five don't look like they're about to lunge for his throat if he so much as twitches. Besides - he subconsciously flexes his left arm, the scars on it shifting as his muscles move - things have tried to eat him before...

On the other hand, he's supposed to be on a diplomatic mission, so offending the Ronor would probably be a bad idea, and waiting here for the tribe leader is more-or-less what he wanted to do anyway. He stands patiently, spear resting lightly on the ground beside him, until the new female arrives and tells him to speak.

"Earlier today, strangers arrived at our village. They warned us that their seers had predicted the return of an ancient evil, one that ravaged the world long ago, and that it would rise again by the next full moon. They also brought fine weapons as gifts, asking only that we use them to survive as long as possible against the darkness."

He pauses for a moment, then continues: "Both our chief and our wiseman believe that we have to take this warning seriously. I came to speak to you on behalf of my chief; to pass on the warning and to ask if any of your tribe's elders know stories from the last time that darkness stalked the earth. All that the strangers could tell us was that any sexual contact with the darklings is strictly prohibited."

Well at least Curious has two of the tribesman willing to hear him out. One out of convenience and the other with a bit of skeptical nature about him. It was nice to see that the wiseman was so beloved by the tribesmen so Curious Eyes gave a sigh of relief all the same thankful he didn't have to go it alone. So for now he would head on out after picking up his bow and a few arrows for both self defense and for opportunistic hunting. He also took two sacks, one for the plant barrier he was devising to use and the other for the Aloe Vera. Whatever gifts he could bring back to the tribe would be welcomed and he knew this.

Leaving the safety of the tribes walls was difficult for him since he rarely ever did it. However he had to for their sake or there would be nothing left by the weeks end. He hopefully could remember where the plants he needed for the barrier were along with being able to make a suitable pact or agreement with the elemental spirits and gods inside the relevant natures. Now they were off and towards whatever fortunes and bounties the wild could bring them. He had to confer to the wisdom of those with him because otherwise they might not make it back before dark. So he was trusting them with his life.

Arden steps forward, ecstatic. He was wishing for a reason to leave town; the air was becoming stale. "I will go to notify the Mahia tribe of the threat!" he says loudly, standing tall.

He mentally prepares to leave, thinking of all the things to bring with him for the trip. He wants to minimize his weight but make sure that he has all that he needs; he wonders if there will be abundant water or if he should bring a waterskin.

These Darklings sound dangerous, but he's curious about what they truly are; he wonders if he will find one while he's out and be able to see what they are to return the news to his tribe.

@Alaric:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

”I trust them not, but you I shall trust, for your smell is that of a Venu human.”

She loudly exclaimed. As she spoke, everyone behind her suddenly gave you weird stares, occasionally gazing towards their fellow tribesmembers. They all seemed like they were in a state of surprised disbelief. Then, the female that had used an aggressive tone earlier the same day raised a finger in a nervous manner.

”D-Does this mean... You know... Red?”

The leader quickly turned to face her people and nodded.

”Code Red training plan! 5 times around the tribe! Run or you won't eat or drink tonight!”

In panic, everyone began running. Whenever they saw someone in their path, they spread the news of this so-called 'code red', and suddenly, everyone in the tribe was running around the span of the deforested area they called their tribe. With a satisfied smile on her face, she turns to you.

”Our elder is the only one that rests while we run.”

Without further ado, she begins running into the distance with an all-too satisfied smile. Something suggested that she enjoyed having to put her tribemembers through this training.
As she had suggested, by the fireplaces stood an old naked man.

@Curious Eyes:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

You go to the tribe storage and pick up a bow, 5 arrows and two big baskets. You store the 5 arrows in one of your small pouches. You hang the bow on your left shoulder, making the bow cross over your chest meeting your right hip. You carry the two big baskets under your arms. Although encumbered, you should be able to handle this amount of weight without stressing your body more than usual.

When you conferred to your companions, they said the following:
The man told you that bringing three units of food could prove useful.
The female said that if you took a trip up to the river, you wouldn't have to carry along a unit of water. They also mention the need for spears for hunting.

”We should bring some food. Without it, we'd go around starving, which would make us useless in a hunt. We should also bring some water.”

”No, if we travel by the river, we won't need to bring any water from the tribe. It's right next to the forest anyway.”

”Ah, you're right. Well, I'll let that be up for Curious to decide. By the way, we should bring some spears or stone daggers for hunting along with the bow. It will prove useful if we get into an unexpected situation.”

”I agree. Bringing the bronze weapons would be a waste though.”

”Really? I think we should utilize any advantage we've got.”

They both look to you, waiting for your response.

@Arden:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

"I will go to notify the Mahia tribe of the threat!"

The chief smiles and gives you a warm reply.

”Good! Now, we need someone to higher our food supply.”

After this, you go to the storage and begin to ponder about what to bring.

@Loken:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Manuri smiled and gave you a small quick bow in return.

”Thanks...”

She lowly muttered.

”Come with me.”

She then slowly brought you towards her hut. Once inside, every word spoken was not to be heard by anyone else.

Curious with a calm manner considers things as they converse. He would then speak up "We do need food so we'll take that and we shall gather water on the go via the river. Whilst there we can also gather fish if we require it to ration out the food or get more for our journey." However he had to wonder if the spirits of the water might take offense to it. They more then likely wont so long as they are respectable and do not take more then they need. "As for weapons we should take the stones spears for hunting and a stone dagger for gathering the plants and so forth. Those copper and bronze weapons will be needed for the enemy or if we need to defend our borders." Curious figured it was wiser to reserve the weapons for when they were truly needed.

@Curious:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

After having the little chat, you pick up three units of food from the storage. You also take a stone spear and a stone dagger. With all needed for your journey, you begin to wander out of the tribe.

As planned, you travel for two hours using 1 endurance before arriving at the river. Coming to a halt, the two tribemembers look to you.

”So, what's next?”
