@prettypinkpwny: If i was high I would waste so much time staring at that AV. By the way, glad it makes you think of monster hunter. I've seen some of that game, haven't actually played, but watched demos. This setting IS going to look nice, and relaxing.

@Ikechi: Thanks. The colored version is now taking shape. So from what I can see so far, yes, it's going to be very pretty and relaxing, just the way a porn game hot tub scene should be. The rock formation is going to be tranquil and smooth, as are the waterfalls coming out of it. The way the hot tubs are going to be, however, will be a surprise. Hope that doesn't give it away.

Try converting your backgrounds to grayscale and seeing if their values hold up. That helps me a lot when I'm trying to isolate certain parts of the HSB.

Ron, I think that bed could use some bunched-up sheets, but I can't seem to get them right. I tried a color change for the underside of the sheet, but I couldn't give it any depth. Maybe you could do it?

@Zeus:

I was happy with it like what some would call a "tight rack" (which translates into a "neatly made bed"). At a larger size you will see some small ruffles under the mattress towards the foot of the bed, but I didn't see it as a big enough wave to warrant shading them individually. It could be that a messy bed would be better but maybe this is my subliminal message to all us slobs out there that "look how good a made bed looks." :-D

I would rather sleep on my bed than on a picture of a bed on my computer, still it's nice and it's not really worth dwelling on.

Workhorse's pictures were obviously meant as an example of how a painting's colors can detract from the overall sense of light and dark, and the same goes for pictures constructed digitally, especially since we have a wide selection of hues, brightness, and saturation. So.. take out the saturation, and look and see if the image still holds up. That's all. No, why would that stuff be for the actual game?

As for my pictures, a couple of the ones I posted will be used. Others will not. Right now though there's more than I have posted that is ready to go into the game. And the stuff that remains to be done for backgrounds is, thankfully, dwindling at this point.

Continuing to make progress towards completion. Most of the creative work has been taken care of, the conceptual stuff that I had to rely on coordination with the rest of the team in order produce correctly is all done. I won't give an exhaustive listing but it is safe to say that the following is done:

Scales' Lair, inside and out and from afar.
Inside a sharpclaw dwelling
inside the tavern
The so-called Zora's domain redux
The crash site
And the dark woods, including a significant landmark within the dark woods.

There are a handful of things I left out because yadda yadda why would you want to read the game when you can play it when it comes out.

I've also whipped up a map that shows all these rooms interconnected, with grayed out rooms that still need to be done.

The number of rooms remaining is ... 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 .. nine at the most although it could be shaved down to 5 or six and those rooms could be "cloned" from other ones I've done with no real consequences, of course, to gameplay.

Given that all of the creative work is done, there won't be any huge like, attempts at stuff that don't get approved because it's brand new.. and it's just cloning and grinding from here, I'd say that although only 50% of the backgrounds are complete, I'm more like 85% done.

Nice job, and thanks for the progress report, RP. And what happened to the previous avatar? This Krystal's hair looks very puffy. :D

That Krystal is my model, which has since been refined by Katsu -- including the hair. But I didn't have that one handy so I just used mine.

Want to produce something for the Area 52 version of the game? You can! Here's your chance to leave your mark on the game. Draw a simple black and white outline of a cave drawing involving sharpclaw .. at war with wolf-men or really whatever you think might be useful or make sense as a cave drawing. Post it in this thread. If your drawing is accepted, you'll see it in Red Eye's cave. Keep it quick and simple, and have fun!

Well, I didn't quite know what you meant by "quick", and mostly I can't pull off anything more than concept art, so here you are.
At least it's content, I guess.

I think you misunderstood what RP was saying, when he said cave drawing he means like cave paintings, you know crude little paintings done by cavemen. Just do some simple stick figure like drawings that would look at home on a cave wall somewhere.

Weird, it kept timing out while posting, and I don't want to spam refresh for fear of multiposting.

Anyway I will just make a quick recap of what I was originally going to say;
Tried a mock up at 4 am,
-Used random tribal images from google, devart, etc (I take no credit it was just to see if a tribal style would work (as in the tattoo style))
-This seems like it would be the best method for making something look decent and may warrant further research.
-Will try and make an all original one at a later date.

Once again I take no credit, all I did was color in stencils and applied a texture and a background.

Well I wanted to make it public, that since I've been working on this project for a while now -- about 2 months and change -- RL is going to have to take priority. When things settle down, I might go back to making contributions. All of my backgrounds have been passed on to the rest of the Area 52 team for the time being.
